Heart Story

If multiple situations are meaningful, how do you narrow down to the story that has the most impact or is most relevant to your target audience?

Also, with the heart story being such a core element, how often do you modify your heart story to better appeal with different audiences? I love the idea of giving a consistent story each time but I can also see how different audience's may not connect to the same things.
